Shelter Foundations Orientation Guidelines:

·       You must complete this live online session before you can unlock your in-person shelter training.

·       Please log on a few minutes early so we can start right on time. You must stay for the full session to qualify for in-person training.

·       Join from a safe, stationary location where you can give the session your full focus—please do not drive or multi-task during the call.

·       We’ll walk through our volunteer handbook and essential safety guidelines together.

·       Come ready to ask questions and build your confidence before stepping into the shelter!

If you’ve received your orientation invitation and completed your Shelter Foundations Orientation, please sign up for the Workday Welcome Orientation shift. During this orientation, we will:

Parking: Volunteers should park in the designated lot on the side of the building near the dog park and trails. Handicapped parking is available in any marked space for easier access.

Assist with deep cleaning the Baby Garden area to make it sanitary for small children to play in. This may involve crawling around on the floor, vacuuming, mopping, or other sanitizing tasks using disinfecting wipes and cleaners.

Help with the teen gaming program, Dragon's Den, at the North Branch Library by running a game table or helping manage games that do not need a game master. Looking for people who can handle loud environments and who enjoy board games and role-playing games. Knowledge of D&D and role-playing games helpful but not required. Program Assistants should report to the program 15 minutes before the program starts.

Workdays for the Denton Mountain Bike Park. Workdays include trail building as well as general trail maintenance. Workdays can be both planned with a group or individual self-guided task.
