To celebrate national Arbor Day, KDB provides a tree presentation and free Redbud seedlings to registered pre-K and third grade classes in Denton ISD schools on April 30, 2024 and May 1, 2024. We will assign specific timeslots as we get volunteer sign ups. Please let us know if you have a preference for time of day you complete your presentation(s).
In past years we’ve distributed more than 1,000 seedlings! KDB volunteers will distribute the Redbud seedlings to registered schools and deliver a 15-20 minute presentation on the history of Arbor Day, the importance of trees in our community, and how to properly plant a tree or seedling.
We will provide training and handouts the week before the presentations (tentatively schedule for 4/23 at 9:30 a.m.). Total time dedicated to this opportunity, including training is about 5-8 hours.
All volunteers must complete or have completed a background check in the last year.
This role is best for those with arbor-training or knowledge and environmental education training or knowledge.
